Greenwich Peninsula Station
The O2 "south side of the river" station for the Emirates Air-Line.
The Emirates Air-Line
Sponsorship abounds for Emirates, this time for the cable-car spanning the Thames from the Greenwich Peninsula to the Royal Docks.
Boats and Barriers
The Thames Barrier is visible just around the bend of the river and a flotilla of moored boats dominate the foreground as we rise high above the river on the Emirates Air-Line.
It might only be the first week in March but the sun was up and the temperatures warm and a fair few people were enjoying it around the Royal Docks as we descend at the end of the cable-car ride.
The cable cars pass by a modern building at the end of the Royal Docks called "The Crystal" which seems to be an interactive zone, although we didn't get time to visit.
Royal Docks Skyway Station
Cable cars stretch high above and across the Thames from the O2 to the Royal Docks.
The Royal Docks are surrounded by these cranes, which may have been in use at one stage but are now merely ornamental.
The Millennium Dome
A view of the Dome as the sun sets on the City of London, the Emirates Air Line spanning the Thames high above the popular venue.
Fly me to the Moon
A Swiss RJ100 departures the westerly runway at London City and flies straight over the Royal Dock, with the moon nicely positioned in the background.
Ellie Goulding in concert at the O2 Arena. Many of the crowd in the standing area are holding their phones high while the stage and screens put out their own lights during the performance.
Ellie stands stage right while the large screens above show the live pictures. The blue lights are slightly off-putting here but nothing like the cable that came from the ceiling all the way down into the control centre in the centre of the standing area!
Ellie singing a track from Halcyon.
The crowd sing
Ellie gets the crowd involved in one of the songs.
The screens on this song reminded me of Transformers for some reason as bright lights roamed out into the audience.
At the insistence of Ellie the crowd turn on mobile phone screens or lights. In the old days we did this with cigarette lighters didn't we?!
Red Stage Yellow Spots
One of the final songs of the set and the crowd are lit up by bright yellow spotlights.
